The colors exhibited by this specimen are beautiful; however, like many specimens the colors revealed under magnification are even more dazzling. A whole new level of enjoyment is gained when one starts to explore their fossil plant collection under magnification. One will find beauty in both the color and cellular detail.

The first two images were taken with a Canon PowerShot SD770 IS Digital ELPH 10.0 MEGA PIXELS, cropped and resized in Adobe Photoshop CS6. The images were taken in sunlight outside.

The next four images were taken with a Dino-Lite AD7013 MT 5.0 MP. Images were resized in Adobe Photoshop CS6. The first three images are at 70x and the fourth at 150x.

 


The scalariform or ladder like perforation plates at the end of vessels can be seen in the image below.
